How to Play Blackjack

December 6th, 2008

Players will compete on a 1-on-1 basis with the dealer and the goal is to have a hand of 21 or beating the dealer by having a hand as close to 21 without surpassing it. It is said to bust or too many when you have a hand with a higher total than 21. In other words, the hand with the highest total wins as long as it doesn’t exceed 21. You got a blackjack or a natural 21 if the first two cards that you get are an ace and a ten or any other face card. Face cards are all worth 10; cards from 2-10 are counted according to their normal value; while an ace’s value is 11 as long as it will not cause the player to bust, in which case it is worth 1.

A player will loose the game if he busts, even if the dealer busts too. The game is called a push if both player and the dealer have the same point value. In this case, neither the player nor the dealer wins the hand. Then the dealer may loose to some players but may beat other players since each player has an independent game with the dealer.
